EPISODE 75: BE WHEN & WHERE YOU ARE

BE WHO YOU ARE-BLOG HEADER-01

A MESSAGE FROM MONICA:

I have to tell you, I am so loving this podcast series. There is so much freedom in knowing the truth about WHO we are, WHAT we are, and now WHEN & WHERE we are.

As someone who has struggled not only with loving who she is, but also wrestles with what if, this series couldn’t be more perfect. What freedom is brought to hear Amber share this:

The past and the future are the furthest places our minds can be from God, because God exists in the present.

He says ‘I Am,’ not ‘I Was’ or ‘I Will Be.’ Just I AM.

I had never considered before that I was detracting from my relationship with God every time I focused on yesterday’s what ifs, or wallowed in opportunities I think I missed and time I think I wasted. And I never considered that worrying about the details of tomorrow, or wondering what will happen when…? actually kept me from embracing the joy of being still and knowing He is God today.

And I certainly never realized that living in the present is living both WHEN I am but WHERE I am, too.

We pray you all will have some revelation from God about embracing the life God has given you today — regardless of circumstances or difficulties or joys or pains — and that you will be able to embrace the I AM when and where you are.

Be in the Word (this week’s verses):

This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. (Psalm 118:24)

Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth. (Colossians 3:2)

Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father. (Colossians 3:17)

For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us. (Romans 8:18)

Be Educated (Additional Resources):

  1. The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis. This is the book Amber read an excerpt from at the beginning of the podcast. The Screwtape Letters is a classic masterpiece of religious satire that entertains readers with its sly and ironic portrayal of human life and foibles from the vantage point of Screwtape, a highly placed assistant to “Our Father Below.” At once wildly comic, deadly serious, and strikingly original, it is the most engaging account of temptation—and triumph over it—ever written.

Be Doers, Not Just Hearers (Practical Application):

  1. Be honest with yourself. Ask yourself, “Am I living in the Past, Future, or Present?”
  2. Be still. Take intentional moments every day to sit quietly in the Present.
  3. Practice gratitude. When you take time in each moment to be thankful, you can’t help but keep your mind in the Present.
