EPISODE 147: FAITHFULNESS (Be Fruitful, Part 3)

BE IN THE WORD (This Week’s Verses):

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1)

These will wage war against the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, because He is Lord of lords and King of kings, and those who are with Him are the called and chosen and faithful. (Revelation 17:14)

And above all, taking the shield of faith, with which you will be able to extinguish all the fiery arrows of the evil one. (Ephesians 6:16)

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. Hebrews 11:6

BE EDUCATED (Additional Resources):

“Faithfulness” is translated from the Greek word pistis. In the King James Version this word is translated “faith.” Pistis includes both meanings (faith and faithfulness), but in Galatians 5:22 it seems to carry more of the meaning “trustworthiness or reliability” (Zondervan NIV Bible Commentary note on Galatians 5:22).

Living Beyond Yourself: Exploring the Fruits of the Spirit by Beth Moore.

BE DOERS, NOT JUST HEARERS (Practical Application):

  1. Three questions to ask yourself:
    1. Do you have what it takes to truly trust and be loyal to what you cannot visibly see?
    2. Are you a faithful person? Not just do you have faith as in believe in Jesus. But are you demonstrating and living out faith by being both faithful to God and demonstrating that faith to man?
    3. Do you fit any of these descriptions of loving self more than God found in I Timothy 3:1-5?
  2. Write your own Hall of Faith. Using experiences in your own life where you chose to exercise the fruit of faith, write out a Hall of Faith just like in Hebrews 11.
    1. Example: By faith Monica, believed God had a blessing waiting for her on the outside of the pit, so she grabbed a hold of His outstretched arm and said goodbye to the sin that kept her hidden in the dark.
