BE COMMITTED-2-PRINTABLE-01

A MESSAGE FROM SARA:

Happy Hump Day!!! How many of you get excited about hump day? My kids say it is one of their favorite days and one of their not so favorite days. Even though it is the middle of the week and there are only 2 days left of school, Wednesday seems to be the longest day ever. Oh I remember those kinds of school days. Well, hopefully wherever you are today, it is a good day and you are practicing the obedience of Being Still!

We are wrapping up week two of Be Committed. How many of you listened to week one? How I pray you did. But even if you didn’t, I’m so thrilled you are here today. At this very moment, I am sitting in my bed working on Be Still Be Free “stuff” and am trying to Be Committed to getting everything on my list done.

But seriously, do you ask yourself over the last week if you are a Mile Wild or Inch Wide? Chances are if we are spread too thin, we cannot truly be showing commitment to Christ our roots are too flimsy and cannot stay grounded. And if we are overcommitted we are probably choosing to cheat one thing over another over another (Andy Stanley has an amazing series on this topic).

A committed Christian rolls away or heaps our troubles, ways, onto the Lord.

A committed Christian obeys the commands of the Lord.

  • We will love one another. (John 13:35)
  • We can be trusted. Our “yes” will be “yes” and our “no” will be “no.” (James 5:12)
  • We will not be lukewarm but will be hot or cold. Being lukewarm is akin to comfortable Christianity. (Revelation 3:15)

It is in my opinion that commitment is a string that Satan has been using for a very, very long time to infiltrate the church and cause our testimony to be no richer for the image of Christ then the world around us.

We have lived on the stage of performance and theatrics doing religion and acting the part…all the while the audience has seen that most of it has been just that…acting. Because though we deliver one speech and perform one dance, behind the curtain we live just like everyone else. Blending in with the surroundings, not able to tell the actors apart from the audience.

And sitting front stage and taking his bow is the one who seeks to kill, steal and destroy…Satan.

Let us take back the stage and toss Satan from the center. After all, it was Christ who hung in the middle…center stage on that rugged cross. His story, His production is one that can change the world for good. His story calls us to be separate and to not blend in. His story is one of redemption and not of religion. He calls us into freedom and not into bondage…into being and not into doing. This is a cause worthy of commitment and because the roots are deep and strong and fed from the well spring of living waters, it will never die.

Let us stand up and be strong!

Let us stand up for Christ!

Let us be hot and on fire for our Savior Jesus Christ!

For this kind of commitment is what leads to transformation…the kind of transformation that has the power change the face of things…REVIVAL!
